🎯 The Core Concept#
Task 2 is a formal essay. The examiner is testing your ability to organise your thoughts logically into coherent paragraphs.

大作文是一篇正式論文。考官旨在檢視你將思路進行邏輯組織、撰寫成連貫段落的能力。
Task 2 shares three of its four grading criteria with Task 1, but replaces “Task Achievement” with Task Response (任務回應). This means that you have to answer the prompt fully.
🧱 The 4-Paragraph & 13-Sentence Structure (四段結構)#
This approach helps you get a high score by dividing your 40 minutes into three strict steps: 5 minutes to plan your ideas (構思論點), 30 minutes to write a structured 13-sentence essay (高效寫作), and 5 minutes to check for careless grammar mistakes (檢查錯誤).
| Paragraph | Target Sentences | Purpose | Writing Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Introduction (引言段) | 2 sentences | Paraphrase the question (重申題目) and state your position (明確表達立場). | 3 minutes |
| 2. Main Body 1 (正文段 1) | 5 sentences | Deeply develop (論述) your first core idea with strong vocabulary. | 12 minutes |
| 3. Main Body 2 (正文段 2) | 5 sentences | Deeply develop your second core idea with strong vocabulary. | 12 minutes |
| 4. Conclusion (結論段) | 1 sentence | Briefly summarize your main argument (觀點). | 3 minutes |
📊 Question Types#
The IELTS exam tests you on broad, universal topics (通俗話題/大眾化主題) such as family, health, education, and work. Regardless of the topic, the prompt will always fall into one of four main question types (問答題型):
- Opinion Essays (Agree or Disagree)
- Discussion Essays(Discuss both views and give your own opinion)
- Problem-Solution (Or Cause-Solution) Essays (Explain an issue)
- Two-Part Question (Two direct questions)
You can use this approach to perfectly answer all four essay variations.
🚫 What NOT to Do (備考禁忌)#
- Don’t skip the planning phase (不要跳過構思階段): You should always plan before you write to make your logic flow smoothly (讓邏輯更流暢).
- Don’t overcomplicate your introduction (不要把開頭段寫得太複雜): The introduction is just a functional paragraph (功能性段落). The examiner is looking for clear logic and topic vocabulary (主題單字), not fancy sentences.
- Don’t obsess over perfect grammar while writing (寫作時不要過分糾結文法): Focus on clear ideas (清晰的論點) and good topic-specific vocabulary (切題的詞彙) first. Then, use your checking time to fix grammar mistakes (修正文法錯誤).
💡 Key Takeaway (核心啟發)#
“Repeated practice of this easy method is how you improve.” (不斷練習這個簡單的方法,就是你進步的秘訣。)
By mastering this exact 13-sentence template (精準的 13 句模板), you can focus 100% on answering the question accurately (精準扣題).
